Pros: Good Fit, Amazing Sound, better than the apple wired set
Cons: Ring tones should be heard in the headset

I tried a set of Motorola S9 HD that was probably made in China. The sound was "tinny" compared to this Backbeat 903. I really love the way the music is played back on this headset and the fit is good and comfortable. It seals the outside ambient sounds. I cant understand why others are complaining about this as I have no problems with my set. It would seem to me that this headset sounds just as good if not better than the Apple wired set that comes with the iPhone. I woulld strongly recommend this headset over the S9 HD. A friend of mine did buy the Motorola Rokkor S9 HD and the seller claimed this was 100 authentic. The only problem with that headset was the phone dont even ring any sound when paired with the iPhone. He dont like the idea because he has programmed all his ring tones to identify his callers. As for the Plantronics Backbeat 903, The ring tones come through the iPhone and tones are heard in the headset when you have an incomming call. Still, all in all, the Altec Lansing speaker System in the Plantronics Backbeat 903 is definitely no. 1 in my book regaurdless what the ratings are otherwise. Everybody, BUY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great sound

Pros: Excellent sound
Cons: Kept falling off my small earlobes

Great sound but sometimes people had a hard time hearing me, other times, the connection was fine. I have small earlobes and the ear pieces kept falling off of my ears whenever I turned my head. Perfect for working out. Not so great when driving.

I owned the S9-HDs.until someone wanted them more than me. I preferred the sound quality on the S9s and the fit however the S9s will not fit in your pocket like the 903s which is a major plus for me.

I dont like the fit of the 903s on my ears, always feel like theyre about to fall off but dont. The S9s on the other had are more rigid and when you lean your head back it pushes the ear pieces off your ears.

Sound quality is good in my opinion except that outside the blue tooth simply doesnt work well. Inside I have no complaints as it works to the 33 foot range with no problem.
As others mentioned, you hear a tone for incoming calls and not the ring tone.which I find very annoying as that is how I determine if I am going to answer or not depending upon what Im doing at the moment. Ive never had a complaint from anyone about the mic, guess Im lucky there.

For those complaining about using them in a car - duh! It is illegal, at least in Maine, to have BOTH ears covered for any reason. As an ex-ambulance and fire truck driver it is bad enough getting people attention.errrr.

Poor background noise cancellation

Pros: Great sound
Cons: Not good in a noisy atmosphere

I loved these and played with them for a month. But I drive a diesel car and I couldnt hear people well and they couldnt hear me while driving. And, isnt that where we are required to use hands free devices - in the car?

Otherwise, at home, these were great for music, podcasts and conversation.

Pros: The quality of the sound coming out of the headset is very good, but because of the VERY POORLY designed ear inserts you cannot get the sound into your ears
Cons: Poorly designed ear inserts with no option to replace with better solution

I have always been very sensitive to the quality of the sound coming from my audio system and speakers. When I bought my first iPod I spent three times as much as I spent on the iPod on a high quality set of ear buds. Altec Lansing has always had good quality audio products so when I looked for a Bluetooth Headset I went with the Altec Backbeat 903. I was totally disappointed. The quality of the sound coming out of the earbuds is very good, but because of the VERY POOR design of the headset and the ear inserts most of the sound does not make it into your ears. I called Altec and Plantronics for a different style of ear inserts but there are none available. I now own a $100.00 paperweight because the music that actually makes it into your ear canal sounds terrible, a $9.00 set of earbuds sounds better. If they would change the design to the in canal inserts these would sound totally awesome but as is they sound terrible.
