Griffin PowerJolt dual USB charger for iPhone - accessory review

The Griffin PowerJolt dual USB charger is different from the PowerJolt Plus I looked at last time, which let you pass through a second car adapter. The PowerJolt Dual is much simpler in a way - an adapter for the power socket in your car capped by two USB plugs. Just plug in the USB to Dock cable that came with your iPhone or iPod touch and you're off and charging.

This is just an adapter, so there's no mount, no built in cable, and nothing else fancy in any way. Since it is simply USB in, you can also use it to charge your non-Apple gear as well, including other phones, devices, headsets, etc. That flexibility really comes in handy for family trips.

This device is so small it is great! The only thing that did not work as advertised was there is no status lights. Maybe that is a good thing since the phone tells you it is charging anyway and you dont get an ugly useless glow.

Best piece of tech I bought for my car

I purchased 2 of these a few weeks ago. One for my SUV and another for my wifes car. I must say that its the best piece of tech I purchased for the new year so far. Its small and fits almost flush in any vehicle. Being that it has 2 usb ports we always have enough to charge both our devices whever necesary. Im almost tempted to purchase another so I may have 4 usb ports. A definite must have for any gadget lover who drives for their daily commute or drives long distances.

I bought a couple cheapo Car USB power chargers. Both died within a few months. The Griffin has been used a lot and its been over a year and still works great. My wife keeps taking it as she used to have a cheapo one that died. So I am buying another one for her car. We have used the dual power on long vacation trips to charge both of our phones at the same time and it has also been used to charge the kids Nintendo DS a few times. Highly recommend - and I am very picky with accessories!

Bought this to use in my Audi with my iPhone. Never used the second USB outlet as the car was ipodded. That is until we went on a journey across to Europe in the family wagon - that didnt have ipod conection. Thus I took my trusty Griffin dual and hooked up my iPhone and my USB FM transmitter - et voila! Car is ituned!!
A superb device that charges the iphone nicely. The only disadvantage that I could mentio is that the LED indicator, whilst nice and cool, is only visible in low light. A minor niggle.
Overall a recommended product.
NB Mine (purchased UK) came with a black USB iPhone lead.

Nice Idea but Craps out Quickly

A small, relatively low-cost car charging device that theoretically could be used for iPhone or other devices is a nice idea: unfortunately, there are two problems. First (and I knew or should have know this when I ordered, so shame on me) it doesnt come with a cord, so add the $20 or so to the cost of the charger to make it fully functional. Second, I have it barely two months and it just stopped working. No drops, no knocks, kept it in a storage compartment in my car, tried plugging it in today and no charge to the iPhone. I thought the outlet had maybe lost power but I plugged in other devices and they worked fine. Of course anyone can get a defective item but, really, for something this simple to fail in so short a time is quite distasteful.
